Coptic Epiphany

Coptic Epiphany (or Eid Al Ghotas in Arabic), celebrated on January 19th, is one of the most significant feasts in the Coptic Orthodox Church, marking the baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. The feast emphasizes themes of renewal, purification, and enlightenment, with water playing a central role as a symbol of cleansing and spiritual rebirth. Traditionally, Copts observe this day with prayers, hymns, and symbolic rituals, alongside special foods like Kolkas (Swiss Chard -Taro soup), Mahshi Koronb, Kassab (sugar cane) which carry spiritual and cultural significance.
